BREAKING NEWS! Watch KING 5’s June 2016 story on Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County’s Critical Repair Program, part of our ongoing Neighborhood Revitalization strategy. While we continue to build new homes in other parts of King County, Habitat’s work in Seattle is currently focused on helping families and seniors in the Othello and Rainier Beach neighborhoods stay in their homes and neighborhoods by providing much-needed repairs, thus preventing foreclosure, displacement, or chronic substandard living conditions. Seattle’s dramatic population growth of 6,000+ high-earning newcomers per year puts residents of Southeast Seattle at the greatest risk of displacement. That’s why we’re creating a displacement prevention program to stabilize affordable neighborhoods and help working families and elderly households stay connected to their cultural, faith, and family networks, schools, and employers.
