The Advocate: Affordable Housing Week

The Advocate: Affordable Housing Week

Affordable housing week is organized by the Housing Development Consortium every May to bring attention to the housing crisis in Seattle. May 14- 18 we will be organizing for action and celebrating the progress made throughout the year. Although every week is “Affordable Housing Week” at Habitat, we are happy to join our neighbors and fellow affordable housing partners in bringing attention to the many ways everyone can be involved in the efforts necessary to secure housing for all. We will be spending the week working, building and volunteering as we always do, to ensure everyone has a decent place to live. We invite you to join us and our partners throughout Affordable Housing Week.

Habitat for Humanity Store Volunteer Day

Our Habitat Stores are open to the public and sell new and gently used building materials, appliances and furniture at discount prices. We accept donations from individuals, contractors, and businesses.  Proceeds help fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building and restoring low income homes throughout King County.

Volunteer opportunities at the Habitat Stores range from assisting our driver on donation pickups, merchandising donations on the sales floor, and general customer service and donor relations.

Critical Home Repair Construction Site Volunteer Day

As part of our Critical Home Repairs Program, Habitat is working to repair owner-occupied homes. All projects are exterior repair work (no construction or repair experience necessary!) that will help low-income homeowners maintain their homes.

Home Ownership budget and savings part two class, 6-8pm.

This course will go over a zero-based budget and irregular income planning. Please make sure to register for both Budget & Savings 1 & 2 since they are separate courses in a series meant to be taken together. This course also has a concurrent course taking place at the same location for teens ages 12-16. Make sure to register for that course if you plan on having a teen who will attend.

*Must also attend budget and savings 1 class on Thursday 05/10 6-8pm

Veteran Homeownership Informational Meeting (05/19- 11am-12pm)
