Family Volunteer Opportunities

14 and over: Volunteering at our Habitat Stores is a great way to engage the whole family! Store volunteers can help out with tasks like: pricing items and putting them out on display, unloading and unpacking donations, organizing items, sorting and recycling, and helping to clean donations. Volunteers can register to come for a half day (10:15 – 2:00 or 2:00 – 6:00) or full day (10:15 – 6:00), Tuesdays through Saturdays. We have three store locations: Southcenter, Auburn, and Bellevue. Volunteers must be at least 14 and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21+.

16 and over: On our Constructions sites, families can work alongside AmeriCorps members, partner families, and construction regulars. This is a roughly 7 hour shift (8:45-4:00) on site with heavy physical labor. Volunteers provide their own lunch. We provide tools, training, and safety gear. Our new construction site in Pacific is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Volunteers must be 16 and accompanied by an adult 21+.

All Ages Youth Volunteer Opportunities

Advocacy – Anyone can be an Advocate for Affordable Housing, and now it is easier than ever with the use of Habitat’s Advocacy projects. From Cardboard Cities to contacting government officials, Habitat’s flexible templates provide a great starting point for the community minded youth.

Hands-On – Not quite old enough to volunteer on our construction site? It is alright! Habitat has a variety of smaller build projects that can be completed at home. With the assistance of an adult and Habitat’s all ages building templates, children are able to start learning about construction today!

Community Focused – From tool drives, BINGO night, and Lego Builds, Habitat for Humanity has a variety of events Youth can plan and host. These flexible events can be altered and changed for different ages, group sizes, and length. Habitat has a collection of templates to start your planning process and is available along the way to assist in the execution.

Educational – Habitat has a variety of Youth Education curriculums broken up by age. These curriculums are a great way to educate youth on the cause and effect of substandard housing around the world, and how they can help solve the problem.

Although Habitat’s Youth Volunteer Opportunities can be completed individually, it is more enjoyable to volunteer with a group! Gather your troops, neighbors, classmates, and church friends today for an unforgettable experience.
