Habitat Breaks Ground in Lake City

Nearly 100 well-wishers joined Deputy Seattle Mayor David Moseley, City and County officials and Wells Fargo to celebrate the groundbreaking of our brand-new eco-friendly Habitat neighborhood in Lake City – our first new home construction project in Seattle’s city limits in six years!

The project, when completed in 2020, will provide 16 townhomes to hard-working low-income families, as well as the long-term financial stability, independence, and equity-building that homeownership provides. These eco-friendly homes will be placed into a land trust that ensures permanent affordability for future generations.

Phase 1 of construction will begin in November and will be built in two phases of eight (8). Each home will be four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and be approximately 1,430 square feet. Homes will include a one-car garage and will come with a full appliance package of refrigerator, range, range hood, D/W, and W/D. These units will be energy efficient and will have monitored sprinkler systems. Green building requirements mandate efficient heating systems, efficient water heating, good indoor air quality achieved, low VOC products, and hard surface flooring.

We’re so grateful to Wells Fargo, who presented us with a $50,000 grant to support our housing affordability and neighborhood revitalization efforts in Lake City! Thank you!
