Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat for Humanity works in King and Kittitas Counties to eliminate sub-standard housing and strengthen communities by building, renovating and repairing homes.

We are looking for an efficient Human Resources (HR) Coordinator to undertake a variety of HR administrative duties. You will facilitate daily HR functions like keeping track of employees records and supporting the interview process. Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work in the organization and assure that these are embedded in HR process, policies and procedures. Your role involves performing tasks with a focus to grow our company’s talent pipeline and improve our sourcing tactics. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as general administrative responsibilities. They will be able to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations. To succeed in this role, you should be familiar using HR software and tools. Ultimately, you should be able to contribute to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization. May lead Safety Committee for organization.

Primary Duties And Core Responsibilities

  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance
  • Redirect HR related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the team
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met
  • Liaise with other departments or functions (accounting, IT, benefits etc.)
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing job offers etc.
  • Assist supervisors in performance management procedures
  • Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the team’s agenda
  • Coordinate training sessions and seminars
  • Perform orientations, onboarding and update records with new hires
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity
  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback
  • Support other functions as assigned

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources / administrative position
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS Powerpoint, in particular)
  • Support with HRIS systems implementation
  • In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
  • Familiarity with social media recruiting
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Prefer BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; additional education in Human Resource Management will be a plus

Additional qualifications

  • US work authorization (Required)
  • Bachelor’s (Preferred)
  • Human resources: 2 years (Preferred)

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees.

Math Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, averages/medians and percentages/percentiles.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:  Define problems, collect, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions. Provides solutions to individuals and company problems.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with computer usage especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with accounting software Sage 50 (Peachtree).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee is required to talk and must be able to read.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.  Extensive keyboarding is required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate consisting of usual business office sounds including but not limited to computers, printers, telephones, and light foot traffic.

Certificates:

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • HR Certification a plus, may be obtained as part of employment
