Habitat AmeriCorps members have been proudly serving communities across the country for more than 25 years. Since the program’s inception in 1994, more than 11,256 AmeriCorps members have worked with Habitat to serve more than 122,758 individuals, engaging more than 4.2 million volunteers and raising tens of millions of dollars to meet the housing needs of families in the U.S.

For Habitat for Humanity SKC, we typically average 11 AmeriCorps volunteers helping to meet the housing needs of low-income families and communities in our region. We recently welcomed the Class of 2020 during a socially distant welcome and orientation] where they will serve in positions including project development, volunteer services coordination, construction crew leadership, among others.
“We simply couldn’t achieve our mission with AmeriCorps,” said Brett D’Antonio, Habitat SKC CEO. “Every year we are amazed by the quality of the members we are so fortunate to have join us, and the talent and energy they bring is always so refreshing.”
AmeriCorps members apply for and serve full-time for at least a year at local Habitat organizations across the country, and are paid a stipend for their service. Habitat for Humanity covers roughly half the cost of each service member, delivering results at a much lower cost than direct government services. This is Habitat SKC’s 21st year participating in the program.
