When you designate us as beneficiary of all or part (1-100 percent) of your retirement plan or IRA, the full amount will pass to us free of any income tax liability. To name Habitat Seattle-King County as a beneficiary:

· Contact the administrator of your retirement account for a change-of-beneficiary form.

· Decide what percentage of the plan’s value you would like Habitat Seattle-King County to receive and name us, along with the stated percentage, on the beneficiary form.

· Return the form to your plan administrator.

You will make a tax-wise gift to support our work after your lifetime.

We hope you will consider joining the Legacy Society.  The Legacy Society members are a group of dedicated supporters who have made a financial commitment to provide an opportunity to build a better region through impactful giving. Membership is easy. No immediate donation is necessary. Life Insurance Policies

You can easily support our mission by naming us as the beneficiary for any percentage of a life insurance policy you already own. To name Habitat Seattle-King County as a beneficiary:

· Contact the administrator of your retirement account for a change-of-beneficiary form.

· Decide what percentage of the plan’s value you would like Habitat Seattle-King County to receive and name us, along with the stated percentage, on the beneficiary form.

· Return the form to your plan administrator.

You will be putting a no-longer-needed policy to good use and you will have flexibility as the gift is revocable at any time should your situation change. To qualify as a deductible gift, Habitat Seattle-King County must become the policy owner, so make sure to properly forward the form onto your insurance company.

When you include Habitat for Humanity in your financial plans, you promote self-reliance and stability in your community. Here are some of the ways you can give to Habitat:

Residual bequest: A percent of your estate left over after other legacies have been fulfilled.

Specific bequest: A specific amount of money or specific fraction of your estate or a specified gift in kind, such as collections, art, books, jewelry, etc.

Contingent bequest: A gift that is originally intended for other beneficiaries but, in the event of those beneficiaries dying would be redirected as a charitable donation.

Gifts by beneficiary designation: You can make a gift from your retirement plan, insurance plan or other assets. Setting this up is as simple as contacting the firm that holds your assets and asking for a beneficiary form.

Charitable Remainder Trust

Did you know that you can receive a passive income for life and also reduce your taxes by transferring assets to fund the trust? This income will come in regularly for you or your beneficiaries for life. You would also receive an income tax deduction the year you transfer assets to the trust! The remaining portion of the trust (after all payments have been made) goes to Habitat for Humanity Seattle – King County.

Charitable Gift Annuities

You can transfer assets to a charitable gift annuity and you will get passive income for the rest of your life. This particular plan allows you to give a large donation to Habitat for Humanity while getting tax-favored income for life. Gifts of Property

Donate appreciated real estate undeveloped land, farmland, ranch, home or commercial property. Donation of your property would be a huge helping hand for Washington communities and establish your legacy as a giving member of your community.

Gifts of Stock

Some of the best ways to partner with Habitat for Humanity are the donation of stocks, bonds and appreciated mutual funds. You can receive a charitable tax deduction for the entire market value of your stock up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. This avoids paying capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the stock!
