Retirement Plans and IRAs

When you designate us as beneficiary of all or part (1-100 percent) of your retirement plan or IRA, the full amount will pass to us free of any income tax liability. To name Habitat Seattle-King County as a beneficiary:

  • Contact the administrator of your retirement account for a change-of-beneficiary form.
  • Decide what percentage of the plan’s value you would like Habitat Seattle-King County to receive and name us, along with the stated percentage, on the beneficiary form.
  • Return the form to your plan administrator.

 

You will make a tax-wise gift to support our work after your lifetime.

Life Insurance Policies

You can easily support our mission by naming us as the beneficiary for any percentage of a life insurance policy you already own. To name Habitat Seattle-King County as a beneficiary:

· Contact the administrator of your retirement account for a change-of-beneficiary form.

· Decide what percentage of the plan’s value you would like Habitat Seattle-King County to receive and name us, along with the stated percentage, on the beneficiary form.

· Return the form to your plan administrator.

The gift is revocable at any time should your situation change. To qualify as a deductible gift, Habitat Seattle-King County must become the policy owner, so make sure to properly forward the form onto your insurance company.
