About AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a national service program that empowers people to strengthen communities through hands-on service. Each year, more than 270,000 AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA members serve with organizations across the country, tackling critical challenges like affordable housing, education, disaster response, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity.

Habitat for Humanity International has been an AmeriCorps partner since the program’s launch in 1994. Together, more than 7,000 Habitat AmeriCorps members have contributed over 12 million hours of service, helping more than 15,000 families achieve affordable homeownership, engaging over 2.5 million volunteers, and raising tens of millions of dollars to advance Habitat’s mission.

That impact continues here at Habitat for Humanity Seattle–King & Kittitas Counties. Since 1998, 268 AmeriCorps members have served alongside our staff, volunteers, and homeowners to help build homes, strengthen neighborhoods, and expand access to affordable homeownership throughout our region.

As an AmeriCorps member with Habitat SKKC, you’ll gain meaningful, hands-on experience while making a lasting impact in your community. Members receive:

  • Monthly living stipend of $2,438
  • Additional $350/month housing stipend
  • An Education Award upon successful completion of service.
  • Health coverage
  • Childcare assistance (if eligible)
