How does Financial Literacy Help Habitat Homeowners?

education

Aside from putting in Sweat Equity, Habitat for Humanity Seattle – King County homeowners are required to take several homeowner education classes. We believe that financial education leads to greater investment in their home. Additionally, this education builds a foundation for long term success. Taking ownership and control over your finances will give you the confidence to deal with problems when they come up, and give you the skills to maintain your home properly.

During these classes, we cover topics like credit cards (and credit reports) debt, loans, saving, investing, dealing with emergency situations, mortgage issues etc. Having these topics understood gives Habitat homeowners a toolbelt they can use for the rest of their lives!
