HYP Beach Cleanup

Last weekend our Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) group participated in a litter cleanup event at Seattle’s Gas Works Park. In partnership with Puget Soundkeeper, a local grassroots organization focused on protecting the marine environment of Puget Sound, the HYP group was part of an “International Coastal Cleanup” event. This is the second time HYP has worked with Puget Soundkeeper, having previously taken part in a beach cleanup with the organization earlier this year as a part of the Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Four volunteers and HYP president (and Habitat Board member) Damon Tsai participated. During the afternoon they collected over 10 pounds of trash!

“The clean-up was a great opportunity for Habitat to get back out in the community and do something meaningful. Since the pandemic started, maintaining our connections with our community has been challenging. Thankfully, we were able to make a positive impact in the community by doing this beach clean-up!”
