KIRO 7 News Team Makes a Positive Impact for MLK Day of Service

January 20, 2020 was the 25th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, a day of service that celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service — a day on, not a day off — to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

The KIRO 7 News team kicked off 2020 with a commitment to helping make a difference in the community by supporting organizations across the region on this Day of Service, and Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County was selected as one of the organizations that news team members would assist. And boy did they ever! A team of anchors including Linzi Sheldon, Claire Anderson and Dave Wagner joined construction already underway at our Lake City project, and got to work on helping on the site which will be home to 16 families.

KIRO 7 News’ goal for its collective effort for the day was to help provide solutions to the pressing challenges being faced by the most vulnerable members of our community. We are extremely grateful for the support of the station, and send our thanks to Linzi, Claire and Dave. Read more about their efforts here.
