A new study from Wallethub lists the states that immigrants made the biggest economic impact in – and Washington is one of them. Among the categories that WA led in were percent of jobs generated by immigrant-owned businesses, foreign-born STEM workers, and the percentage of Fortune 500 companies founded by immigrants or their children.

In an earlier study published in the Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, researchers analyzed Census Bureau and FBI crime data across 200 cities from 1970 to 2010. Researchers found a reduction of almost five violent crimes per 100,000 residents for every 1% increase in the foreign-born population.
